P90X VS Insanity!
Lately I have been fielding lots of questions about which Beachbody exercise program people should do so I am here to tell you the differences of the two most popular. The main items I will cover are level of difficulty, number of days, cost, results, and which one is my favorite.
Level of difficulty

P90x is super hard for the first 30 days and after that it starts to become easier. Your doing things to your body that you haven’t done since high school.(unless your still in high school) Things like pull ups, squats, Yoga, Kenpo X, plyometrics and the list can go on but I think anyone can do this program. It’s all in your head! On a scale of 1 – 10 and 10 being the highest I would say for first timers a 10 but after at least one round you would rate it an 8.
Insanity is super hard as well but a different degree of difficulty. See the main difference is that you don’t need any extra equipment like P90x. P90x requires items like a pull up bar an weights but Insanity requires you! It’s no walk in the park because it’s packed with plyometric drills and nonstop intervals of strength, power, resistance, and ab/core training moves. The issue isn’t wether or not you can do this program but do you have the will to do it!
Number Of Days and Time
The amount of days is obviously 90 days for P90x and Insanity is only 60 days long. The biggest factor for me was the time and how long the workouts were. For P90X it is 90 days of working out with one day off each week. So if you start on a Monday then your days off will be Sundays so keep it in mind before you start. Insanity is the same besides 60 days otherwise you’re still working out 6 days per week. Now the other big question is how long are the videos? Now that’s where I think results vary between the two programs. P90x is approximately 1 hour per day and every other day 1 hour and 15 minutes. Insanity is approximately 45 minutes each day so if time is a huge factor then jump on the Insanity band wagon.
Cost
Everyone always thinks that these workouts are so expensive and yes I get times are tough but you can’t put a price on health. If you continue to not exercise and not eat healthy meals then you will eventually end up taking medications for diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol. So below I will list the cost of each and the deals to save you money!
P90X- The dvd set $120.00 All you get is the dvd’s, guides, nutrition plan
P90X- The results package $239.00 You get the pull up bar, bands, dvd’s, recovery drink (save $70)
Insanity- The dvd set $120.00You get the dvd’s, guides, nutrition plan
Insanity-The results package $239.00 You get the dvd’s, 3 bonus workouts, 2 months of the recovery
Results

You’re results will vary depending on body shape, size, goals and diet. I think if you want more tone muscle and less body fat then do the P90x program. You will show more muscle definition then Insanity. If you want to look more lean then do the Insanity program. You will shed more weight faster because your not lifting weights and we know that muscle weighs more than fat.
My favorite
I am going to be totally honest and say based on my results I would have to choose P90X for several reasons. I want a more tone look and P90X will offer that more over Insanity. You will not gain big muscles with Insanity but you will look more slim. Thin is in so don’t be afraid to try it. I just ordered mine and will be starting after I get back from meeting Tony Horton and several other trainers in LA. I will be mixing it with P90X because I would like to continue to build muscle. If you would like to be an active member with Beachbody then look into the coach program.
