This is pretty much the first DVD in the set and boy was I surprised how hard a 42 minute long workout was. The Insanity workout begins with a warm up that consists of 3 minute intervals. These intervals are supposed to get your heart pumping and in the first 3 minutes I was pumping. You warm up for 9 total minutes and each round consists of jogging in place, Jumping Jacks, Heisman’s, Heisman 123, Butt Kicks, High Knees and Mummy Kicks. You can easily understand a few but a Heisman 123 is going back and forth and then going into a quick Heisman pose. Mummy kicks are kind of a joke but still decent cardio. Start with arms straight out and as you shuffle your feet you have to cross your hands at the same time. After all is done you get a quick 30 second break and holy crap that was just the warm up.

So honestly before I go any further Insanity is not a joke people it’s the real deal. I thought P90X was challenging but Insanity is challenging because there is a lot of non stop cardio involved. So after the 30 second break the stretching begins and for 7 minutes it is a much needed break. While stretching it’s good to have a towel because your constantly dripping sweat! Kind of gross! The stretching seems to be the same in the first set of workouts and reminds me of Yoga X from the P90X workouts. You are now almost half way through and as the stretching seems a little tedious I enjoy it as it is somewhat relaxing. Shaun T gives a quick 30 second and then its time once again to go into the interval training part of the Insanity workout. Get ready for another 23 minutes of crazy cardio!

A pretty typical Insanity workout consists of a two part interval training and in the second half you start your 2 minutes of Suicide Drills, Power Squats, Mountain Climbers and Ski Jumps. I think we have all done a suicide drill and high school or college may bring some of those memories back. That’s why you’re here right? To get back into that college or high school shape. I would say out of these drills the least effective for me was the ski jumps but if you focus more on the core it will be more effective. My favorite is the Insanity power squat because it keeps my butt in check with my pant size. It sounds like something a chick would say but after losing 28 pounds I don’t want to give it back. When you start to think you’re last interval is done he surprises you with another minute of switch feet and football sprints. I have this cool new phone called the “Incredible” and it is so easy to take video and download it so I have a short video below of this exact interval.

So remember that you do 3 rounds of the intervals above with a 30 second break only at the end of the 7 minutes. So by now I guarantee you’re hurting and probably already pushed the pause button once. The first few times through this workout I couldn’t finish and as I am writing this I can now say I can finish it. I am in my recovery week which is week 5 and only 4 more weeks to go baby!

I hope you took advantage of your 30 second break cause this next round is so hard that the people in the video are screaming in pain and stopping. Please don’t let this scare you as you will overcome this issue. The last 9 minutes are going to be brutal so just try and keep your own pace.

The last intervals consist of Basketball jumps, level 1 drills(4 push ups, then run it out for 8 seconds), Ski Abs and In and outs. Why is this so damn hard? Well try the level 1 drills for 30 seconds. Start in the standing position then jump down for 4 push ups and then in that stance run for 8 seconds. Oh wait then there is ski abs which is kicking you’re legs in the cradle position from left, center, right. At this point your arms are in so much pain that you begin to do knee push ups. Should I even explain In and Outs? Well stay in the push up position and get ready to kick your legs out then in crunching your abs. I know it sounds as painful as it looks in the video above. The funny thing is I didn’t tape myself in this round because I still struggle. If you can still breathe at this point congrats your almost done so take a quick 30 second water break and get ready for jabs, cross jacks ,upper cuts and open hand jabs. The extra round reminds me of kenpo X so if you have done that workout then you know whats coming. I believe there is 3 minutes of stretching but I haven’t had the energy to do it yet. At this point you’re feeling like a rock star but extremely exhausted. Remember to drink your recovery drink and use your shakeology to get all the goods in you. Good luck and if you have made it this far then click below and buy it today.

Just got home from work and man was it ever a long day. Is Friday ever going to come? I am looking forward to the weekend because all my boys are going to the beach. I have so much anxiety over it though because my gut is like taking over and I can’t suck it in anymore. I’m stressing out because I can’t stand the look that I have given myself over the years and it seems like summer is always my breaking point. Andy has been going to the gym for a while now and he speaks very highly of it. I will talk to him about joining the gym he attends and then we can workout together. Whats killing me is that I just can’t stick to something and I can never lose my gut. I truly like that Andy commits to working out but he is still very fat. All that muscle but it’s hiding because he eats whatever. Last night he told me that I was crazy for thinking of trying that PX90 thing because he can’t sit in front of a television and workout. I asked him if he did any cardio like running or playing ball and he said no, all upper body. I hate the gym because it seems that every guy focuses on there upper body. That’s all I did and maybe that’s why I failed.

Tonight I think its time I start running because I have a few days to at least feel better. Damn Im out of shape so I better stick to a few miles today and work my way up to 5 miles by the end of the week. Dan called me and he wants to hit the bars for a few cold ones and some pizza. Should be a good night, I wonder if Dan has heard of P90. Maybe he will try it with me. Since I ran I guess treating myself to a few beers and pizza will not kill me. Damn I woke up with a slight hangover this morning and work is killing me. What the heck am I going to do about this working out thing. Dan doesn’t have time to do P90X because it takes like an hour per day. I’m at the point now where something has to change and I mean soon. I’m so fed up with my clothes, my eating habits and my gut. My options are get a gym membership for like $50/month or take the $120 plunge and buy the program. My options haven’t changed but now 2 weeks later I haven’t made a decision and well summer is almost over. Why can’t I get motivated to just get rid of this look I have given myself over the years. Probably because it took me two years to look like this.

Does anyone feel like this? How do you think all the celebrities do it? Just think if it took you two years to put on all the weight how long do you think it will take for it to come off? I bet if you follow a structured program like P90x or Insanity then you will lose the gut like I did in just 90 days. My results were fantastic and I am not like the guy above anymore. Today is the day you contact me and let me help you become fit again. Below are two programs that helped me become fit again so if you got this far your opportunity below is one click away.

Today is a day that everyone runs into. A day of what I like to call FUNK! Whatever reason it may be it will happen and I am hear to tell you that it has happened to me several times and that is the joy of becoming fit again. The hardest thing for any addict is to make a change and when change comes it is too easy to get back into that comfortable state. I started Insanity 16 days ago and it’s hard as heck but no matter what I still push play. The issue with me is that I have been extremely stressed out and my downfall is sweets. I know some of you can relate with other downfalls but mine is chocolate and ice cream with all the fixings. Ever since starting this journey of staying fit over a year ago I have been focused on helping others while maintaining my slim look. You will always achieve the best results when you go 110% and go all in. That’s what I did, I gave up all my favorites like chocolate, ice cream, beer, pizza, bagels w/ cream cheese, etc. I lost 28 pounds in June 2009 after going through P90X and thanks to my commitment I am still down 28 pounds. We all have breaking points or what I call a FUNK. I broke yesterday and had an enormous amount of Ice cream with all the fixings. Is this wrong? Well it depends because it made me feel good inside and it hit the spot but I hated myself because the 40 minutes of Insanity went down the drain. Guess what? I still look the same today as I did yesterday, I still weigh the same but the only difference is I woke up with that bloated feeling. Yuck! The feeling that your stomach is going to explode. I woke up and hit the DVD player and man was plyometric cardio difficult today. After my workout I enjoyed a healthy Shakeology lunch and felt great!

So back to my FUNK! For a while I never wanted to touch all that bad food because I was scared that I would become the person I was last year. FAT! Not eating bad foods in front of my family because I wanted to be the leader and show them that they could resist the temptation. Now that I’m in shape I can cheat once and a while but that constant eating of bad foods will catch up eventually. I did accomplish a few things with my family. My brother Silvano is a coach with me and has completed P90X, my parents tried Slim in 6, Silvano’s wife has attempted P90x & Turbo Jam and my brother in law Joe dropped 20 lbs with P90X. A quick update: Silvano still works with P90x, my parents gave up on the program and are trying “Zoomba” Silvano’s wife gave up again, Joe gained 15 back because he was laid off. The point here is that something put them into a FUNK again and some went back to the comfortable state they lived in. This is what we do and I hate to use my wonderful family as an example but I witnessed it all and thought by sharing this with you that maybe you could understand that we are all human. This program is not easy and for some really tough. Isn’t that the point to get out of your comfort zone and push so hard that you will achieve results no matter what. The bottom line is quit making excuses and try the damn thing out. You have money to lose but with the money comes a loss in weight and a younger you. I challenge you to go all 90 days without giving one day up. Once you get past the 30 day mark you will be so happy that you will want to finish.

So I started the Insanity workout last week Monday the 21st and let me tell you that I’m impressed! For those of you that don’t know about the program it is a 60 day solution to a better body. The fit test is part of the day 1 workout and consists of 8 individual moves. I have taken a picture to show you the moves but I will also put down my numbers and update accordingly. Do as many reps as you can in one minute without stopping!

1. Switch Kicks – 40

2. Power Jacks – 45

3. Power Kness – 70

4. Power Jumps – 20 (By this point I was gasping for air so the numbers start to go down)

5. Globe Jumps – 11

6. Suicide Jumps – 12

7. Push Up Jacks – 20

8. Low Plank Oblique – 30

So the numbers are down and my next fit test is on day 15, then day 36, day 50 and day 63. I will be updating them on this post so stay tuned for the next update. Overall the workout is crazy intense but well worth the pain and sweat. Recommended with this program is the recovery drink and shakeology but then it depends on what kind of results you’re looking for. I will be continuing my Insanity journey and updating you through the process but please feel free to offer words of encouragement!

I am thinking about getting back into shape and every time I wake up I don’t look forward to putting on those pants. I feel so fat but I don’t feel like working out because I hate it. This damn belt is on the last hole and soon I have to go buy a bigger one. I hate the clothes I have because they don’t fit and my average size shirt is pushing a large. It’s time to get my day moving so I look into the cupboards and don’t see anything that looks good that is easy to make. Screw it I will make a quick stop on the way to work and pick up a sandwich. Arby’s doesn’t look good and Subway has that new healthy breakfast but they don’t have a drive thru so I will settle for Starbucks. I love the caramel macchiato so I will get a grande size and a bagel with cream cheese. On my way to work I hear a commercial on the radio about this pill that will help me lose 30 pounds. Maybe I will look into that because I am too busy to find time to workout. Mid morning comes around and I am starving but lunch is still 2 hours away what should I do. Jill brought in some donuts and my favorite one is calling my name. This is my last week of eating bad and I will start exercising and eating healthy next week Monday. Oh this donut is so good and I deserve it so I really don’t care about my diet.

Finally lunch is here, this place is driving me crazy. Since I made some bad food choices this morning I think I might just eat a salad for lunch. The girls are going to Applebee’s so I think I might go with them since they have that under 550 calories menu. We arrive and get seated right away so as promised I order a water and a salad. On the way back to work I can’t seem to stop yawning so I make a pit stop at Starbucks and get a grande nonfat latte on ice. The day seems to go by so slowly and 5 pm is never getting here. Uh Oh! Why is my stomach growling at 3:30 in the afternoon? I bet it’s because I ate light at lunch and my body isn’t used to that. The vending machine has those Triscuits in it so I will grab that to tie me over until dinner. Finally 5 pm has arrived and home sweet home it is. Damn! I forgot that Billy has soccer practice at 6 and we have nothing to eat at home. Let me call hubby and see if he can pick up a pizza on the way home from work. Man that was so convenient and still 20 minutes to get Billy to practice. Now that I have an hour until I have to pick him up I will go to the store and buy some groceries for the rest of the week. If I’m going to start exercising next week I should buy healthier foods and stick to the produce section. I will get a lot of fruit and veggies but holy cow this is getting expensive. As I check out I notice that Rachael Ray has a new diet that helped that woman lose 30 pounds. As I thumb through it I notice that it requires a lot of time for cooking and I am so busy with work and the children that this diet will not work for me. I wish there was something easier for me to do but I can’t find time to exercise. The gym is too expensive so I will keep looking for something in the mean time. The week has come and gone and tomorrow is Monday but I don’t have a game plan. I will start walking just for now until I find something that I like doing. THE END….

Don’t be Average and make excuses for yourself, GET RESULTS!. Today is the day you put all that away and pick a Beachbody program. If your male or female try P90X and I promise it will change your life. If you’re more of a beginner then do Power 90. If you have already done one of the above then keep going and pick Insanity or RevAbs.

The 3 day summit was the best experience I have ever had because it was so rewarding to know that others are out there doing the same thing I am doing. Helping one person at a time become more health conscious and to exercise daily. My friend Brad, Andrea and myself arrived at separate times at LAX and grabbed a tiny rental car and were headed straight to the Beachbody headquarters. I was surprised that traffic to the place wasn’t that bad but we saw black Mercedes everywhere like it was just normal. On top of that every 25 cars anywhere in LA was a high end car like and Lamborghini or Ferrari. So we finally arrive at the headquarters and all I could think of was how cool is this going to be. We passed security and headed on up to the third floor and the tour began. After spending an hour and a half we headed back to the hotel to check in and eat. I was starving because all I had to eat was a P90X bar and that’s only good for a few hours. After checking in we headed to the outdoor mall across from our hotel and ate some good Thai/Chinese food. After walking past all the expensive shops we went back and picked up our welcome package. Our first workout was at 5 and it included 15 minutes with every Beachbody trainer. I have done RevAbs and P90X so I was super pumped for those but the most anticipated workout was Insanity. We got down to the room a little early because it was limited space and trying to fit 1,000 plus people into one room sounded crazy. I had videotaped a little bit of each trainer and separated them into two posts named Trainers I and Trainers II. The workout went well and set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

After the workout we had very little time to clean up and head to the exclusive Diamond Coach reception. This was an event that was limited to diamond coaches and above. Here I had an opportunity to feel extra special as the guest trainers were Tony Horton and Debbie Siebers from Slim in 6. I shared a beverage with Carl Daikeler and Jon Congdon the founders of Beachbody. I hit it off really well with Debbie and her boyfriend Tom. The poor guy was taking pictures of her and her fans for the two days. It was comical in a way but he was being a good sport. The night ended around 1 am in Blake Warrington’s (upline coach)suite where we discussed strategy moving forward and where we all wanted to be within the company. See anyone can be a coach but not everyone can be dedicated so I look for people that believe in the products first. We got about 6 hours of sleep and to be honest after having a few cold ones the night before I wasn’t looking forward to Insanity. I was actually nervous because I was a little under the weather and I knew I was gonna get my butt kicked. The workout was so intense that I fell to my knees during the last 10 minutes and could barely breath! Damn I thought after doing two rounds of P90X and 1 round of RevAbs that I would be in awesome shape. After the workout we had a chance to meet Shaun T and take a couple pictures with him. There was about a 1 hour gap between the workout and the breakout sessions. That morning they were letting us try Shakeology for breakfast and I have to admit it was fantastic! The chocolate was the best because they added peanut butter and banana’s to it. I am now a big fan and include it in daily meals. They let you order it as a Home Direct so shipping is free! I had a chance to shower and make it to the first session which was about Shakeolgy. After Shakeology we moved to a few more breakouts where we learned more about the business and the opportunities in the future. We were given about 3 hours before the awards dinner so I went up to the room and crashed falling a sleep to golf.

The dinner was fast approaching and I had an opportunity to sit at a table with Debbie Siebers and the table next to us had Tony Horton and Brett Hoebel. I didn’t win any awards that night but I enjoyed one hell of a dinner and good conversation. Lots of money was given out that night including 2 checks for $120k each! Oh that was just there bonus checks and didn’t even include all the other ways they were paid. The ceremony also included future workout programs like TurboFire and Body Gospel, the new Diamond Pack, future award trips and the 25K winners of the success club.

We stayed up once again until 1 am and got up early to make it to the last day of the summit. This was the most important day for me because Chalean, Tony, Carl, and motivational speaker Darren Hardy spoke to us. There were a few other key note speakers but the few listed were the most intriguing. Chalean discussed better business practices and how social network sites can help grow your business. Tony discussed his 11 laws and Carl closed it out with a fantastic message and gave me confidence that Beachbody is not going anywhere. Why? Well because Beachbody has been around for over 15 years and they didn’t even get into the affiliate program until 2 years ago. Darren Hardy was good as well and he gave us some good information on how to keep striving for success. The funny thing was when he presented his little package of videos and books. I knew it was coming but I guess everyone has to make a living. We wrapped up at noon and had 9 hours to kill before my red eye back to Grand Rapids, MI. My friends Brad and Andrea had never been to LA so we headed to Beverly Hills for some lunch. Sitting on the patio in the hills made me think that someday I want to live this life. Not the rich high class life but not having to worry about money at the end of the day. I think I counted over 100 Porsche’s, 20 Ferrari’s, 10 Lamborghini’s, and random high end Bentleys and Rolls Royce. We checked out the Kodak theatre and the street performers before finishing off with a tour of the celebrity homes. If there wasn’t anything more motivating then to see some of the sizes of homes and how people lived out here. We got back after an hour and a half and headed to the airport. Shared a few moments of the weekend and headed off home to Grand Rapids. The red eye was not fun but the face on my little girl and boy as I approached the waiting area was amazing! Keep pushing play and try a program out already!

8 scoops whey
2 cups rolled oats
4 banana
4 tablespoons peanut butter
1 cup Splenda
1 teaspoon salt

1. In a clean, dry blender, process one cup of rolled oats into flour (blend on medium for about 1 minute)

2. After removing the oat flour, put the banana chips into the blender and chop into chips (only takes a few seconds).

3. Put all of the dry ingredients into a large bowl and stir together: oat flour, the remaining rolled oats (1 cup), chopped
banana chips, protein powder, Splenda, salt.

4. Slice the raw bananas into the blender and process on medium speed, until producing a puree. Add the peanut
butter and blend for a few seconds, just until mixed (you want to leave some peanut chunks for texture).

5. Stir the banana-peanut butter puree together with the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

6. Cut 8 squares of aluminum foil, about 6X10 inches each. Lightly coat the interior with a cooking spray. Spoon out an
equal portion of the mixture onto each foil square, and roll them into a bar shape

7. Bake the bars in the foil in a preheated oven at 350-degrees F, for 16-20 minutes. *Be sure not to overcook*

Servings: 8 , Notes: cals – 323 , Protein – 28 g , Carbs – 37 g (5 g fiber; 18 g sugar) , Fat – 8 g (3s, 3m, 2p)

I have other P90X Healthy Meals as well so let me know if you think these taste good. The greatest thing about protein bars is you get added fuel after a 1 hour long session. After doing a P90X or Insanity workout you will probably need more than one of these bars to keep you going. So I always recommend the recovery drink as well because it will help restore, repair and give you energy. Remember the make or break point for being successful is the diet so stay focused and please let me know if I can help. If your looking for something quicker than look into shakeology as it is the best way to fuel your body after a workout.
